چکیده
A metric on binary trees is dehed to give the similarity of two dendrograms. One of the major desirable properties of the proposed treesimilaritymeasure is to clarify the decision ordering nature of biological trees. This metric is applied to evolutionary tree reconstructions and comparative embryo-genesis. The mathematical properties of this metric are discussed, and an algofithm is proposed to compute the metric.

Random Dendrograms
An attempt is made to create some statistical tests for comparing results of hierarchical cluster analysis based on the uniform distribution over the set of all possible dendrograms. Three different uniform distributions are considered according to the degree of similarity of the dendrograms. Some distances between dendrograms are defined and The solutions proposed are computational and are bas...
متن کاملThree Dissimilarity Measures to Contrast Dendrograms
We discussed three dissimilarity measures between dendrograms defined over the same set, they are triples, partition, and cluster indices. All of them decompose the dendrograms into subsets. In the case of triples and partition indices, these subsets correspond to binary partitions containing some clusters, while in the cluster index, a novel dissimilarity method introduced in this paper, the s...
متن کاملHow frequently do clusters occur in hierarchical clustering analysis? A graph theoretical approach to studying ties in proximity
BACKGROUND Hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) is a widely used classificatory technique in many areas of scientific knowledge. Applications usually yield a dendrogram from an HCA run over a given data set, using a grouping algorithm and a similarity measure. However, even when such parameters are fixed, ties in proximity (i.e. two equidistant clusters from a third one) may produce several diff...
متن کاملComparison of similarity coefficients used for cluster analysis based on RAPD markers in wild olives.
Five different similarity coefficients (Jaccard, Sorensen-Dice, simple matching, Rogers and Tanimoto, and Russel and Rao) were evaluated and 10 wild olives analyzed with RAPD markers. The influence of the similarity coefficients on wild olives clustering was investigated. Forty-five primers were used on samples from 10 wild olives (Wild 1 and 2 obtained from Mugla province; Wild 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ...
متن کاملStudy on the genomic diversity of Hymenolepis nana between rat and mouse isolates by RAPD-PCR
Hymenolepis nana is a common parasite of rodents as well as human intestine. This parasite has beenreported from all over the world, including Iran. The infection rate has been reported up to 40% in someareas. The infection has various clinical manifestations. The parasite could establish severe hyperinfection inpatients with immune deficiency. Regarding the rodents as hosts of the parasite, th...
